The Rev. Peter Selvaraj was licensed for priestly ministry in the Diocese of Algoma during a service of Evening Prayer at Church of the Redeemer, Rosseau, on Saturday, July 25.

The service formed part of Archbishop Anne Germond’s weekend visit to the Deanery of Muskoka.

“Peter was so excited, and it was a joy to share this special occasion with him,” Archbishop Anne said.

Following the service, the congregation went outside carrying small candles for the dedication of the church walkway. “Together, we lit the pathway,” said Archbishop Anne. “It was a wonderful way to bring the evening’s worship to a close.”

A potluck supper followed, and Peter was presented with gifts. Archdeacon Kelly Baetz also made her special chocolate cake for the occasion.

“I want to offer particular thanks to Archdeacon Kelly for everything she did to help make the service at Rosseau so beautiful,” Archbishop Anne said.

Reflecting on the celebration after returning to Sault Ste. Marie, the Archbishop described it as a joyful evening and expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make the occasion special for Peter.
